1966.5 Volkswagen Beetle

In 1966-67, my father had an assignment working for the Food and Agricultural Administration in Sierra Leone, West Africa. My parents and 3 siblings lived there for one year. During that time, my father purchased our right-side drive VW Beetle. They brought it back on a ship when they returned to the MS Gulf Coast. My Dad loved the car and took great care of it. I learned to drive in it in the 80s and used to get lots of stares when I drove it. Dad had it completely refurbished in the 1990s and enclosed our carport to house it. He also entered it into some car shows after it was redone. He passed away in 2017, and I inherited it. It hadn't run since 2005, but I got it back up and running. I just brought it up from my childhood home this past July. I'm looking forward to bringing it back out for show in our relatively new hometown of Hillsborough.
