Aerodynamics

Mitsubishi Evo 9 MR Vortex Generator

Installed Evo 9 MR Vortex Generator. This is the hedgehog looking item located to the rear of the car roof line. This modification does more than add aggressive styling to the car. It is a functional piece used in streamlining the aerodynamics of the car by reducing drag and increasing down-force...

Aerodynamics

Mitsubishi Evo 9 Wickerbill

Look carefully at the rear wing of the car and you will find a small lip. This lip is called a Wikerbill and it is added to the wing to create additional downforce on the rear of the car. This is a Mitsubishi part and was installed 10/22/2009 Mitsubishi Part# MZ575626EX

Suspension upgrade

Mitsubishi Crossmember rear body support brace

Installed Mitsubishi Crossmember rear body support brace. This Mitsubishi part adds stability to rear body of the car. Installed 7/16/2011 Mitsubishi Part# MR412407 and MS240129 (bolts)

Select

Mitsubishi Ipod Adaptor

Because Mitsubishi was so focus on performance of the Evo 9, some creature comfort items were left off. The car did not have cruise control nor did it have Ipod or phone integration. However, Mitsubishi did have an Ipod adaptor that can be bought separate and used with the 2nd generation Apple Ip...

Exhaust Manifold Cover/Shield

The OEM heat shield did not look very appealing and I was not able find a very suitable replacement. So, I took a piece of cardboard, cut and shaped a shield I thought would not only look nice but cover more of the manifold. I took this cardboard design to a fabricator and had them make the shie...

Air intake & air flow

FQ360: TurboXS High Flow Intercooler Piping

Installed: 06/20/2014

As part of FQ360 upgrades, I upgraded all intercooler piping. Looking like the horns on Hellboy's head, the TurboXS Intercooler Piping improves air flow from the turbo through the intercooler and back into the intake. This mod combined with a K&N Air Filter, helps the car gulp up as much cool air...

FQ360: Tanabe High Flow Downpipe

Installed: 04/11/2022

As part of the FQ360 upgrades I Installed Tanabe 2.75" high flow downpipe. This mod made one of the biggest improvements turbo response and increase in horsepower.

FQ360: Road Race Engineering 3" High Flow Cat

As part of FQ360 upgrades, I upgraded the OEM CAT to a 3" high flow Road Race Engineering cat. Road Race Engineering has been an industry leader in DSM upgrades since the days of the 1G Mitsubishi Eclipse. Installed 10/14/2011

Exhaust system

FQ360: Tanabe Medallion Turing 3" Catback Exhaust

The Tanabe Medallion T70072-1 Touring exhaust is for those who want performance and power without annoying old people, waking up babies, and attracting attention from law enforcement. The system is constructed of SUS304 stainless steel and uses 1.2mm thin wall piping as well as hollow exhaust han...

Suspension upgrade

Six Point Underbody Brace

Install a six point underbody support brace that helps provide additional underbody support and reduces body roll.

Brakes upgrade

RexPeed Carbon Fiber brake caliper cooling guides

In spirited driving the front brakes and calipers can become very hot. These air guides direct cool air to the front brakes for cooling and improved braking.

Aerodynamics

ARP Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser

Installed: 06/02/2012

The ARP Rear Diffuser works to help reduce drag and produce downforce as the car moves forward. To help channel air flow coming from underneath the car, diffusers redirect the high speed air flow to transition smoothly into the low pressure vacuum in the rear. This encourages smoother flowing air...

Fuel System

FQ360: TREPerformance 255 LPH High Pressure Fuel Pump

As part of the FQ360 upgrades was the upgrade to a high pressure fuel pump. For this modification I look to the TREPerformance fuel pumps. I like their product best as it provides top end fuel pressure without the fuel pump whine noise you get from many other brands. Installed 09/28/2011

ECU remapping

FQ360: Performance Tune by JESTR Tunning

As part of the FQ360 was the tuning to make all the other performance mods work together to bring about the desired increase in horsepower and engine performance. For this, I looked to JESTR Tuning. JESTR has been well know among DSM Owners for many years. I provided him information on the list...

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is a high-performance, World Cup Rally race inspired sedan, manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. Since 1992 there have been ten official versions to date. Each version equipped with a finely tuned 2.0 liter turbocharged engine (capable of 300 plus horsepower) and a high performance All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system. This combination proved unbeatable as Mitsubishi dominated the World Rally Championship for three years with its race version of the Evolution. Road going versions (Evolution I through VII) became prized cars by car enthusiasts the world over. While the Evo line of cars were available in Japan and the UK since the early 1990’s, they did not come to America as a road car until 2003 in the form of the Lancer Evolution VIII. In the UK there were special models available known as the FQ_Series. They ranged from the FQ320, FQ340, FQ360, and in 2005 the unbelievable FQ400. The model number indicating the horsepower of each version. In the U.S. three basic models were available the RS, GSR and MR. The RS is a stripped down version that was ready for the race track, with all power options and the rear wing removed to make it as lightweight as possible. It was also equipped with an aluminum roof, standard aluminum hood and fenders. The GSR version came with a steel roof for support of an optional sunroof, a functional carbon fiber rear wing, HID headlights and many creature comforts that the RS did away with. The MR version got back the aluminum roof, carbon fiber rear wing and roof top air diffusers that provided additional down force from the rear wing. The MR also received lighter BBS wheels and a six-speed transmission. All U.S. Evolutions came equipped with Recaro seats, and a Momo steering wheel. In 2005 the U.S. models received an Active Center Differential (ACD) that is computer controlled to provide maximum traction to the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) suspension. The 2006 Evo IX came with a 2.0 Liter, MIVEC (variable valve timing), twin-scroll turbocharged engine producing 286 HP and 289 Lb-Ft of torque to a sophisticated forged aluminum suspension, supported by giant Brembo brakes. Each version of the car is capable of 0-60 mph (97 km/h) times between 4.2 and 4.5 seconds, and can run 1⁄4 mile (402 m) times ranging from 12.6 to 13.3 (12.7–13.0 USA versions) seconds depending on the model/driver. This rally-bred street car provides superior performance that is normally found only in cars costing three to four times as much. A favorite of American tuners, a modified version of this car holds the flying mile record of 228 mph. Some modified versions of the four cylinder engine have been able to produce upwards of a 1,000 horsepower to the wheels, surely an astonishing accomplishment for a 2.0 liter engine. I purchased my Evo 9 new in January 2007 in Cary, NC. It was in a showroom in Florida and the Mitsubishi dealership had it shipped to Cary, NC. When it rolled off the trailer it had 7 miles on it. Currently it has little over 42k miles. It has it's original Electric Blue paint and is garage kept. It has seen the rain less than 7 times and has only left Wake County four or five times. It has all factory recalls completed including airbag replacement. It is serviced regularly as require by time and mileage. I have all records for the car, original door sticker and original OEM parts for most modification.
